One spreadsheet, one row per person, roles, groups, and client access set for your whole firm at once. Use this instead of inviting people one at a time when you are onboarding a team.
Go to Settings → Users & SSO and click Add your team in bulk beside the page description. The link stays available across the tabs.
1. Download the template
Download template gives you a CSV with the five columns filled in as headers.
Beside the uploader is a Your clients panel listing your firm's current client names, each with a copy button. Use it. The client access column matches on exact spelling, and copying beats retyping.
2. Fill it in
Five columns, one row per person:
Column | What goes in it |
Their work email. A new address gets an invitation. An address already in your firm gets updated. | |
display_name | How their name should show. Only used when inviting someone new. |
role | A built-in role — |
client_access |
|
groups | Existing group names separated by semicolons, like |
The Your groups panel lists existing group names. Create groups before including them in a roster. The template uses up to two existing groups in an example row; replace the examples with your team.
Leave the entire groups column out to keep existing memberships. Include a blank cell to remove that person’s memberships, or list names to replace them with those groups. Clearing client_access removes direct grants while group access remains.
Because email is the key, the same file works for setting up a new firm and for changing an existing team. Re-uploading an edited roster updates the people already in it.
3. Upload and preview
Upload your roster takes CSV or Excel (.csv, .xlsx). Then click Preview changes.
Preview and final results show group membership changes separately from direct client grants. Nothing is applied at upload. You see exactly what will change first, and you approve it with Apply roster. An unknown client, role, or group becomes a row you can fix rather than a row that quietly gets skipped, and if some rows are bad the button offers to apply only the good ones.
Seats
Every person in the roster who is not already in your firm takes a seat when the roster is applied, the same as inviting them by hand. If applying would add seats, the preview says so before you commit, and names how many. See Your plan and your seats.
Client access only matters in Allocated mode
The client_access column sets who can see which clients, which only has an effect if your firm is in Allocated mode. In Open mode everyone sees every client and the column is ignored. Group memberships can also be prepared in Open mode: they are saved, but do not restrict access until the firm switches to Allocated mode. See Choose who sees which clients.
