Every distinct group in the file is listed, so you can see what you are deciding about before you decide. Below the list sits a one-line explanation of what DepreciationPro noticed, then three buttons: Asset classes → GL accounts, Properties / activities, and Skip for now.
How the suggestion is made
One of the two routes may already be highlighted when the panel opens. That pre-selection is made by matching names. There is no AI call and no cost.
If half or more of the group names match activities that already exist on the entity, Properties / activities is pre-selected. “3 of 4 group names match this entity’s existing activities.”
Otherwise, if half or more read like balance-sheet asset classes, Asset classes → GL accounts is pre-selected. “3 of 4 group names look like balance-sheet asset classes.”
Otherwise neither is pre-selected. “These group names don’t clearly match activities or asset classes. Pick a destination below, or skip to keep them as Source Category only.”
The explanation always shows, including when nothing is suggested. It reports what was seen and leaves the conclusion to you. A pre-selection is a starting point, never a commitment.
Skipping is a real answer
Skip for now dismisses the panel and the import proceeds exactly as it otherwise would. The group labels are still stored, and the assets tab will offer to bulk-assign them later.
Nothing about this question can stop a file from importing.
Which imports ask
The panel is for PDF asset schedules, and it appears no matter which door you came in. A vendor PDF started from the third-party import screen hands off to the same review surface, so both doors behave identically.
Spreadsheet imports, including CSV, Excel, and older .xls files, do not show the panel. They still reach all three destinations by mapping:
Map the band column to Source Category. It is in the Organization group of the field list on both doors, and a column named something like “Asset Class” is usually mapped there for you.
To route it, map the file’s activity or GL account column to Activity or GL Account Number as well.
Or assign in bulk after import.
