The audit log is the record of who did what in your firm and when. Reach it from Settings → Audit Log.
Use it to answer questions like who changed an election on an asset, when a return was last recomputed, or who invited a user last month.
The table
Six columns:
Column | |
DATE/TIME (UTC) | When it happened. Note that this is UTC, not your local time. |
USER | Who did it. |
ACTION | What kind of thing happened. |
TARGET | What kind of thing it happened to. |
TAX YEAR | The year the event belongs to, where it has one. |
DETAILS | Opens the full record for that event. |
Events are newest first. The count above the table reads like "Showing 1 - 10 of 10 events", and you can switch between 25, 50, and 100 per page.
Narrowing it down
Six filters sit above the table: Action Type, Target Type, User, Tax Year, From Date, and To Date.
The Action Type and Target Type dropdowns list the kinds of event actually present in your firm's log rather than every kind the product can record, so a young firm sees a short list. The User dropdown lists everyone in your firm.
Export CSV
Export CSV at the top right downloads what you are currently looking at, filters included. Filter first, then export, and you get the narrow set rather than everything.
This is the route to take when someone needs evidence outside the app, for a review or an engagement file.
What it is not
The audit log records actions, not figures. It will tell you that a depreciation run happened and who triggered it. It will not tell you what the numbers were. For that, run the report for the return. See Open the Report tab and pick a report.
For a full copy of your firm's data rather than its activity, see Export all your firm's data.
