Every report on the Report tab uses the same Columns button, the one the Assets tab has. Learn it once and it works on all of them.
Show, hide and reorder columns
Click Columns at the right of the bar above the table. The column picker opens inside the grid, between that bar and the column headers, and the button stays highlighted while it is open. Click it again to close the picker.
Visible lists every column the report can fill, each with a checkbox. Clear a checkbox to hide the column.
Order lists the same columns with an up arrow and a down arrow. Click an arrow to move a column one position.
Reset to defaults puts the report's standard columns back, visible and in their original order. It leaves your sort and grouping alone.
The column list is specific to the report you are on. A report only offers columns it has data for. The Capitalized Cost Recovery table under the Depreciation Schedule has a fixed set of columns and no Columns button.
Some columns cannot be hidden. The first identifying column on each report, and the Account, Debit and Credit columns on Journal Entries, have their checkboxes disabled. A report without them would not be that report.
A few useful columns start hidden and are yours to turn on:
Prior Depreciation, Prior §179 Depreciation, Prior Bonus Depreciation and Prior Other Depreciation on the Depreciation Schedule and Summary by Class. These break out what Total Accumulated lumps together.
Accum Depr on Roll-Forward, Fed Current and Adjustment on the State Depreciation Schedule, MACRS Basis on AMT Adjustment, and several accumulated and NBV columns on Tax vs. Book Reconciliation.
Sort
Click a column header to sort by it. Click it again to reverse. An arrow on the header shows which direction is running.
Three columns are display-only and do not sort: 280F on Vehicle/Listed Property, A-Adj=D? on the Federal-to-State Reconciliation, and Status on GL Rollforward & Reconciliation.
Sorting changes the screen. It does not change any export.
Reading the table
Each report sits in its own card. The bar at the top of the card reads the report's name and its row count, and long reports scroll inside the card with the headers pinned, so the column names stay visible.
100 rows per page. When a report runs longer, a pager appears at the foot of the card showing which rows you are looking at, out of how many, with Previous and Next.
A grand total row sits at the foot of the table in dark grey. It totals the rows you are looking at, so it follows the activity filter.
A subtotal row closes each group when the report is grouped.
