Set a report up the way you want it, save it under a name, and it opens already shaped. Save it just for yourself, or share it with everyone at the firm.
Where this is in the app
Dashboard → open the return → Report tab → Columns → Saved layouts
Click Columns at the right of the bar above the report. The Saved layouts row sits at the bottom of the column picker that opens inside the grid.
Save a layout
Shape the report. Choose your visible columns and their order, set the grouping, click a header to sort.
Click Save As... in the Saved layouts row at the bottom of the column picker.
Name it for the job it does. "Year-end binder", "Partner review", "GL tie-out".
Choose who it is for. Just for me keeps the layout in your own list. Everyone at the firm shares it. Personal is preselected, and the firm option only appears if your role manages firm settings.
My layouts and firm layouts
The Load a saved layout… dropdown groups what you can use:
My layouts are yours alone. Nobody else sees them, stars them, or deletes them.
Firm layouts are shared. Everyone at the firm can load one. Creating, renaming, starring, or deleting one takes a role that manages firm settings, and the panel shows who saved it.
Layouts saved before this feature existed are firm layouts.
What a saved layout holds
Stored | Not stored |
Which columns are visible | The activity filter |
The order of the columns | The report template picker |
The Group By choice | The Context and State selectors |
The sort column and direction | The tax software picked in the Export menu |
Load, star, delete
Load a saved layout… is the dropdown at the left of the row. Pick a layout and the report reshapes to it.
Set Default and the trash button appear once you select a layout you are allowed to change: your own always, a firm layout only if your role manages firm settings. Select a firm layout without that role and neither button appears.
Set Default stars a layout so it is applied whenever you open that report. Starring one of your own makes it your personal default; starring a firm layout sets the firm default. You can have one personal default and one firm default per report.
The trash button deletes the selected layout after a confirmation. It touches no asset data, so a layout you no longer want is safe to delete. The confirmation for a firm layout names who saved it and warns that everyone at the firm loses it.
They are scoped to the report they were saved from
A layout saved on the Depreciation Schedule does not appear when you switch to Disposals. The dropdown only ever offers the ones that apply to the report on screen.
What Set Default actually does
When you open the Report tab, DepreciationPro applies the first of these it finds for that report:
Your own starred layout
The firm's starred layout
The report's built-in column set, and the Depreciation Schedule opens grouped by Recovery Period
When you switch reports, it does the same for the new one. Your personal default only changes what you see. Colleagues without a personal default of their own keep getting the firm default.
