Are my column choices remembered?
Yes, per user, across every return you open. Asset Name is always shown. Everything else is yours to show, hide, and reorder. See Choose and arrange the columns on the assets grid.
Which columns are hidden by default?
Recovery Period, Section 179, Bonus, the three prior-depreciation columns, the four Source category columns, Activity, GL Account, Book Acquired Date, and Book In-Service Date.
Source Category is the exception that turns itself on. See The Source Category column and filter.
Why doesn't a column have a filter?
The funnel sits on Status, Category, Method, Conv, Section 179, Activity, GL Account and the four Source category columns. It appears only when the return has more than one distinct value in the column, so a single-method register shows nothing to filter on Method.
Do the totals reflect my filter?
Yes. Total Cost and Total NBV sum the filtered rows, so a filter doubles as a subtotal.
What does the header checkbox select?
Every row your filter and search left, which can be more than the page in front of you. Read the count in the blue bar before confirming a dispose or a delete.
The Select all assets in this return link next to that count is different. It takes every active asset in the return and ignores your filter.
Why can't I tick a disposed asset?
Disposed rows have no checkbox. Bulk actions from the grid never include them.
What can I change in bulk?
Edit one field across the selection, open the selection in Spreadsheet edit, assign state allocations, dispose, or delete. See Select assets and change them in bulk.
Why did a bulk edit skip some assets?
Disposed assets and CIP assets are skipped. A Section 179 amount higher than an asset's cost is skipped on that asset. The results screen names each one and the reason.
Can I undo a bulk change?
Yes, for 30 seconds. A toast appears after a bulk edit, spreadsheet edit, bulk dispose, or bulk delete with an Undo button and a countdown. Only the most recent operation is held.
Deleting a single asset from its row menu is not covered by Undo.
How many rows fit on a page?
A filtered set longer than that gets a pager and a "Showing 1-200 of 412 assets" line. A shorter set gets neither.
What's the badge next to some assets?
Either a cost segregation badge, which links to the study or to the form that starts one, or an amber "Needs review". Two things raise the amber one: a vehicle DepreciationPro wants you to confirm, or a recovery profile that is incomplete or was changed — most often an intangible still missing its recovery period in months, method or timing rule. The badge's tooltip says which. See Status, and the badges the grid shows.
Does a badge stop me doing anything?
No. Nothing is blocked. The vehicle badge in particular changes no figure at all. The recovery-profile badge does not block anything either, though an intangible carrying it has nothing to compute until its recovery settings are filled in.
Why is CIP a separate way to add an asset?
A CIP asset has no placed-in-service date and no cost yet, so it stays out of the depreciation calculation until you convert it. See Add assets to a return.
What is the source-category banner telling me?
Imported assets kept their file's grouping label but were never assigned to an activity or a GL account. Assign in bulk starts the fix. See Change a routing decision, or assign groups in bulk.
Where do I edit one asset properly?
Click its row. The grid is for finding assets and for changing many at once.
